Stevi Costa is a scholar and instructor specializing in nineteenth and twentieth-century American literature through the lenses of feminism, queer theory, and disability studies. Her work articulates theories embodied across narratives of bodily difference and combines approaches from literary theory, cultural studies, and performance studies. Her academic takes on pop culture have been featured on In Media Res, Playing Harry Potter: Essays and Interviews on Fandom and Performance, and in the European Journal of American Cultural Studies. She is currently at work on a book-length project about circus aesthetics in American literature and culture and serves as artistic director of Noveltease Theatre, a literary burlesque company.
