NellieCare: A Telehealth Service for Students

As an artist and a student, it’s important to have the right tools—textbooks, art supplies, a computer, online subscriptions and apps for various digital tools, a camera, or maybe even an actual toolbox. Whatever your major, you likely have a checklist of tools you need for your classes. Many of these are even provided to you by the school in the various labs and creative spaces on campus. It’s important to know what tools are available to you, and how to use them—particularly when it comes to the free telehealth service NellieCare.

NellieCare Comes to Cornish

This academic year, it’s more important than ever to know what health resources you have in your tool belt. The COVID-19 pandemic has put a strain on our health in many different ways—whether by the physical symptoms of testing positive for the virus, or the mental and emotional symptoms of dealing with the stress and worry that come with isolation and the fear of infection for yourself and those close to you. That’s why last year, we announced the launch of a free 24/7 telehealth service for all students.

NellieCare, a TimelyMD program, offers a variety of medical and mental health services at no cost per visit. Through the program, medical providers can diagnose common conditions, such as a cold, the flu, or a sinus infection. NellieCare can also be used to help diagnose COVID-19 by virtually assessing symptoms and providing recommendations to either get tested or self-quarantine if necessary. Providers will also tell you where to go if testing and further care is needed.

NellieCare’s TalkNow service offers students a safe space to talk about issues they may be struggling with—from feeling overwhelmed by coursework, to depression and anxiety surrounding the pandemic. In addition to the TalkNow on-demand support for mental health issues, you can also schedule counseling through NellieCare to speak with a licensed counselor.

In addition to medical and on-demand mental health services, NellieCare also offers health coaching. This service provides access to a nutrition specialist who can help students adopt healthier lifestyle behaviors related to sleep issues, weight management, and more.

NellieCare is available to all students currently enrolled full time at Cornish, with unlimited no-cost visits for medical and mental health support. Your student success coach can provide more information as needed. Click here to get started using NellieCare, simply register with your Cornish email address and log in to begin using these services.
