A freelance flutist, improviser, and composer in the Seattle area, Leanna Keith delights in creating sound experiences that make audiences laugh, cry, and say: “I didn’t know the flute could do that!”
As an educator, Leanna has taught workshops across the US and Canada on technique and tone, extended techniques, composer collaboration, improvisation, and world flutes. In her studio, each student is taught a unique program that is specifically designed to encourage their interests while maintaining a high standard of technique.
Leanna is dedicated to playing music by composers who are still living, and advocates for the usage of music as social activism. She co-directs the arts organization Kin of the Moon, alongside Cornish instructors Heather Bentley and Kaley Lane Eaton. Her recent works focus on mixed-race identity, queer identity, Asian-American identity, and diaspora.
