Christine Sumption is a Seattle-based theater artist who has served as a dramaturg for Sundance Theatre Lab, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Goodman Theater, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre, the New Harmony Project, Icicle Creek Theatre Festival, and Hedgebrook Women Playwrights Festival (with which she has a twenty-year affiliation(. Her directing credits include productions at Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre, and DARTS/Company Subaru in Tokyo, where she served as Resident Director for three years.
Sumption was on the artistic staff of Seattle Repertory Theatre for nine seasons, where she served as dramaturg and literary manager, edited publications, and produced the annual Women Playwrights Festival in partnership with Hedgebrook, a Whidbey Island writers retreat. She is the co-editor of Hedgebrook Plays, Volume 1 published by Whit Press, and she recently edited Dare to Claim the Sky by Sharon Nyree Williams.
