Job Description: 

The Youth Tutoring Program (YTP) is an after-school educational enrichment program for first through twelfth-grade scholars who live in five low-income and public housing communities in Seattle. Started as a partnership with the Seattle Housing Authority in 1991, the tutoring centers provide youth with a safe, positive, and stimulating environment to explore learning and experience academic and personal success.

As an intern with YTP, you will have the opportunity to tutor, guide, and inspire youth living in low-income and public housing to achieve academic success. You will assist one of our Center Supervisors in curriculum planning, tutoring scholars, and running tutoring sessions. We have five separate tutoring centers located throughout Seattle, and have intern opportunities available for each center.

Educational Benefits:  As a mentor to younger students, you will build pedagogical, communications, and interpersonal skills. You will learn how to make an impact as a tutor and help students achieve their goals.

Minimum Qualifications:  Strength in reading and grammar, previous tutoring experience a plus. Tutors must be available to work a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 hour-long tutoring sessions per week during the hours below (depending on the need): Mondays in-person 4:20, 5:30, 6:40 Tuesdays in-person 5:30, 6:40 Wednesdays in-person 4:20, 5:30, 6:40 Thursdays in-person 5:30, 6:40

Only current students of Cornish College of the Arts, who are Work-Study Eligible, and enrolled at least half-time status may apply. Please check your financial aid letter to confirm your work-study eligibility.
