Library Assistant (ST/FED – 5 positions)
Starts at $18.69
Provides organizational and administrative support, including:
- Working at the circulation desk to assist patrons
- Using online library systems, checking in/out materials to patrons
- Placing items in the Hub for patron pickup
- Shelving library materials
- Answering ‘quick information’ questions about hours, services, and locations of materials
- General upkeep of the library, including collecting unshelved books, picking up items on the floor, adding paper to the printers and copy machine, etc.
- Opening and closing the library
- Assisting with projects in the library
Educational Benefits to be Derived by Students in this Job:
- This position will allow students to improve their research and customer service skills as well as knowledge of Visual and Performing Art histories, artists, and works.
- Students will gain an understanding of systems of library classification and experience in library circulation functions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Computer competency
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service
- Time efficiency & ability to manage time appropriately
- Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy
Position Requirements:
- Work Study eligible (Check your Financial Aid award or contact the Office of Financial Aid to determine eligibility)
- Able to work at least two consecutive semesters
