Cornish College of the Arts presents a much-anticipated Art Faculty Exhibition, the first to be installed in the Behnke Family Gallery. In keeping with the goal of faculty members to encourage their students to learn from and alongside them, this exhibition presents an opportunity for faculty to exhibit their ongoing research and creative practices. In a unique addition, students have been invited to provide written interpretations of the works, which will be compiled in an exhibition catalog.
Curator Robert Campbell states, “This approach showcases a concentrated beehive community of makers — teachers, staff and students — and how we focus on and celebrate daily the act of creating through dialog.”
The exhibition includes faculty who teach and create within these arenas: drawing, painting, printmaking, arts writing, art history, photography, sculpture, and new media, among other topics. Foregrounding the term “faculty” as relating to innate or acquired ability and capabilities, this exhibition reveals a diversity and depth of skills and ideas across the faculty, along with innovative individual practices.
The exhibition includes both Adjunct Faculty teaching during Fall Semester 2024 and Full-time Faculty, all of whom have impressive experiences exhibiting, publishing, curating, receiving grants and residencies, or having work in public and private collections:
