I am a teacher, translator, director, and dramaturg and have staged operettas and plays in Boston, San Diego, and Washington, DC. I have taught at the University of Washington and Catholic University, and offered acting and audition workshops at American University, Peabody Conservatory, and Gettysburg College.
I am currently a doctoral candidate at the UW School of Drama. My dissertation, “Show Boat’s ‘Make Believe’: Subversions of Stereotype and Sympathy as Liberalism,” explores the manipulations of popular performance forms in musicals as a means of modeling inclusion and redefining full American citizenship.
