"My work as a theatre artist is also my activism, telling stories and building communities that center social justice. All of which fuels my passion for teaching. As a playwright, I collaborate with artists locally and across the country to create plays and musicals that center the stories of female-identified, non-binary and LBGTQ+ people. For 17 years, I led Hedgebrook, the writer’s residency on Whidbey Island, serving as Executive Director and board member, and co-producing its premier Women Playwrights Festival. Celebrating the culmination of my tenure, Seattle Arts & Lectures selected me for the 2020 Prowda Literary Champion Award for “demonstrating true commitment to the PNW’s community of readers and writers.” In 2022, I launched Play Club: an intergenerational community of theatre lovers that reads, discusses, goes to see new plays together, and meets America’s most exciting playwrights."
