Improvisational / Anatomical Choreography
Class Description
*prior dance experience recommended
This course combines elements from dance, somatic movement education, improvisation, and composition. Students will explore physical movement through guided improvisations, anatomical choreography, and creating compositions of their own. Students will be introduced to experiential anatomy and somatics through the work of Irmgard Bartenieff, Peggy Hackney, and Irene Dowd. Concepts covered include breath, kinesthesia, connectivity, initiation, and intention. Previous dance experience helpful.
