Stage Management Portfolio Requirements
Applicants to the Stage Management specialization within the Theatre BFA are required to submit a portfolio as part of the admission process. Your portfolio gives us the opportunity to learn about your experience, your organizational approach and your potential as a stage manager. If you are applying to the Theatre BA, a portfolio is not required, and admission is based on Cornish’s standard application requirements.
Please include 1-3 samples of work that tell the story of your experience with Stage Management. If you wish, please also include samples that demonstrate your experience in other areas of production.
These items could include:
- Prompt books from the productions you have recently worked on (usually one prompt book is enough).
- Photos of the productions you have worked on to help us see the scale of the show.
- Evidence of organizational skills, like lists you’ve made for a show (or for a project other than a show), calendars, checklists, sign-up sheets, scene breakdowns, contact sheets, etc.
- It is suggested that you craft your portfolio to answer the question, “Who are you now as a theater maker?”
If you don’t have much to show, don’t panic. We understand how difficult it is to document your work in stage management. More than anything, through your portfolio, we’re looking to learn more about who you are and what you want to achieve.
