
Lucie Baker is a dance artist, educator and therapeutic expressive arts facilitator who practices a diversity of dance forms, including concert, folk, club and social dance styles. She believes in the transformative power of expressive embodiment. Raised in Seattle, Baker began her dance journey folk dancing with her family and studying at Pacific Northwest Ballet and Cornish’s Preparatory Dance Program. She holds a BFA from the Juilliard School, and an MFA from University of Washington. Baker has extensive experience in collaborative interdisciplinary experimental theater, performing with artists such as Jane Comfort, Tamar Rogoff, Erica Essner, Phantom Limb Company and others while based in New York City. Baker’s own choreography investigates relationships between dance, ecology, and culture. Her teaching career started in arts outreach serving diverse populations in schools, studios, universities, prisons, hospitals, and disaster zones in the U.S., Peru, and South Africa.
