The Voice 101 program affords high school and college vocalists an opportunity to take their vocal technique and command of the voice to the next level with a week of tutoring from Cornish College of the Arts faculty. This serves as a foundation course, which will inform and increase stylistic abilities as students progress as committed singers and performers. Combining genres (jazz, classical, contemporary), students and instructors will explore aspects of vocal technique, the physiology of the voice, musical styles, body awareness and commitment to the text. This workshop will give students the opportunity of focusing on healthy vocal technique in any style, as well as peer and instructor feedback on vocal performances. Through classroom discussion, listening sessions, studio performances, private lessons, and group masterclasses, the workshop will delve into all aspects of vocal use and technique. This will be exciting work that is designed to prepare the students for the challenges and realities of a career as a vocalist in the performing arts.

This class provides the perfect foundation for students who want to continue on and choose a specialized track the following weeks - we offer Voice at Cornish, Stage to Studio, and Contemporary Songwriting and Recording.
