Jessica Jobaris is a Seattle-based choreographer, whose dance-theatre works warp perception, probing audiences to reconsider what is sacred and what is profane. Her process researches consciousness and the supernatural. Her most recent work, "Orphans, Thieves, and Other Unlived Lives," integrated intergenerational trauma through seances with the ancestors. "A Great Hunger," explored themes of complicated grief/suicide, was commissioned by On the Boards 2016-2017 season. In 2010, she launched Jessica Jobaris & General Magic, a dance-theatre company, dedicated to nurturing artistic risk and community connection through dance. Jessica has taught nationally and internationally, and holds a BFA in dance (cum Laude) from Cornish College of the Arts. She is a graduate student of psychology at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology.
