Amelia has been at Cornish for the better part of 34 years. She arrived at age 10, to pursue her dance training in the preparatory dance program, where she studied modern, jazz, musical theater, character, and R.A.D. ballet. She also trained in Hop hop, Samba, Afro-Brazilian, and her all time favorite, freestyle House dancing (at the disco tech!). Just prior to graduating from the preparatory program at Cornish, Amelia was recruited by multiple Seattle choreographers, and went on to perform with local Seattle contemporary and musical theater companies from 1995 to 2002. In 2014, Amelia returned to the stage as a performance artist, performing composed and improvised music, spontaneous poetry, and movement.
Since then, Amelia has been performing in Seattle with her trio, CHA, and with her group and solo project, LovePunk. Amelia's teaching style, and personal artistic passion, are centered around intimacy and vulnerability, and a commitment to keeping her work and teaching accessible to anyone interested. Her love of musical theater came on full force at age 6, and hasn't lost a drop of momentum since. Fall of 2020 marks Amelia's 5th year teaching dance to musical theater majors at Cornish.
