Writing for the Screen

Class Description

This course focuses on writing stories for either small or large screens. The class will examine the structures of classic and recent short stories and screenplays, including some for new platforms, and to write and thoroughly revise a short screenplay of your own, following accepted screenwriting formats. You will learn the three-act structure, the roles played by action and dialogue, some of the ways to create complex situations and characters, and the idea of the satisfying conclusion that emerges from ideas introduced in the first scene.

Back to class safely – While we do hope to continue our in-person learning, please note that this learning experience may need to evolve to an online or hybrid learning platform based on the safety regulations and recommendations by the city and state.
