Beginning Object Design

Class Description

Experience the world of object design with hands-on studio work that will include material exploration, drawing, and making concept models. Through three distinct design projects, students will experiment with textile, lighting, and furniture design. In each project, we will explore the diverse cultural history of design, as well as contemporary culture and emerging technology.

This interior architecture course will help you understand the basic principles of how objects can affect space. You’ll also learn how you can design objects to be more efficient as well as aesthetically pleasing.

Through exploration and experimentation, you will learn the relationship between two-dimensional forms and three-dimensional space that will give you the skills to move beyond conceptual ideas and into designing the objects you’ve been dreaming of.
