Keira McDonald is a self-producing theatre artist who resides in Seattle, WA. Her original one-woman shows have played at Mae West Fest, Odd Duck Studio, Re-BAR (Seattle, WA) Frontera Fest (Best of Week, Austin,TX.), UNO SOLO festival (Victoria, BC) EstroGenius Festival (Manhattan Theatre Source, NYC). The Comedy Tree (London, UK) and have been featured at Theatre Off Jackson and Capitol Hill Arts Center, WET, Balagan Theatre (Seattle, WA.) and Bryant Lake Bowl (Minneapolis, MN) The Dark Room and Exit Theatre (San Francisco) and have had multiple tours on The Canadian Fringe Theatre Festival Circuit to sold-out houses in Regina, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Victoria, Vancouver and on the American circuit in Austin, TX. Orlando, FL. and New Orleans. LA. She is the founder and was the Founding Artistic Director of Theatre off Jackson’s SPF (Solo Performance Festival) for six seasons. She is a guest artist with Seattle’s own beloved Cafe Nordo where she created three roles in the world premieres “Cabinet of Curiosities” and “Somethin’ Burning” and “Don Nordo Del Midwest.” She has a B.F.A. in Theatre from Texas Tech University and an M.F.A. in Lecoq-based: Actor-Created-Theatre from London International School for Performing Arts/ Naropa University. While in London she worked as a professional stage hand and stage manager for Delfont Mackintosh Theatres at both The Palace Theatre and The Queens Theatre in the West End of London, UK. She teaches Theatre and Act creation to circus performers at SANCA (Seattle Acrobatics and New Circus Arts) and directs the annual year end circus show. She has worked with young actors at Seattle Children’s Theatre, St. Joseph’s School, The Northwest School, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle University, ACT, Youth Theatre Northwest, Perseverance Theatre (Juneau, AK) Saskatchewan Native Theatre (Saskatoon, SK.) and Zach Scott Theatre (Austin, TX.) among others.
