Senior Seminar, Directing
Katjana is a director, performer, producer and teaching artist. Her directing credits include reasons to be pretty at ArtsWest (for which she received a nomination for Best Director in the 2010 BroadwayWorld.com awards,) Natural Selection at SecondStory Repertory, Jane Eyre for the University of Washington, and a national tour of The Adventures of Peter Rabbit with California Theater Center. She has been directing at Cornish since 2006, helming productions of A Woman of No Importance, Girl Gone, Five Flights, Brutality of Fact and Aloha, Say the Pretty Girls. As a Co-Artistic Director at Washington Ensemble Theatre (2006 – 2010) she directed Shakespeares Titus and the regional premieres of Mr. Marmalade and Swimming in the Shallows (2006 Seattle Times Footlight Award for Best Off-Broadway Production.) Her work has also been seen at Next Stage, Live Girls!, the Mae West Fest and Book-It Repertory Theatre. As a performer she has appeared onstage at On the Boards and Seattle Shakespeare Company, and at numerous venues as her burlesque persona, Cherry Manhattan. Katjana is also a company member of Living Voices, regularly touring the U.S. performing five solo shows. She has taught at the University of Washington, Pierce Community College, Seattle Center Academy, Eastside Preparatory School and the Northwest School and was honored to be the featured theatre artist in the Seattle PIs 2008 Fall Arts Guide. Katjana graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of California at Irvine with a BA in Drama and is an Associate Member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
