Cornish College of the Arts offers a comprehensive Summer Dance experience. Classes are offered at various skill levels for children starting at age three through professional dancers. College credit is available for dancers who wish to gain credit.
Summer Dance is open to the community and embraces diversity. Classes include classical ballet, pointe, modern, Hip Hop, Pilates, Yoga, choreography, ballet vocabulary, musical theater and Jazz. The daily format offers intense summer training for dancers wanting to gain strength, placement and the knowledge of a new discipline.
All classes will be held at our historic Kerry Hall campus, third floor studios on capitol Hill.
The children’s division classes (ages 3-8) are held evenings during Session 2 and introduce children to our ballet program. We welcome visiting and continuing students.
Junior division evening classes (ages 3-teen) are held during session 2 and include pre-ballet, creative movement, ballet 1 & 2 and intermediate ballet. Junior division morning classes (ages 7-12) include ballet and modern, as well as mid-day workshops in musical theater, choreography and modern dance.
Senior division dancers (ages 12-professional) have a variety of class options and levels in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, Pilates and Yoga. Afternoon workshops in choreography and musical theater can also be taken. Final showings of the work will be presented at PONCHO Concert Hall.
We also offer one-day workshop and individual instruction by appointment.
You may call or email us to find your proper placement. All dancers will be evaluated on their first day of class and any changes in class level will be recommended at that time. No auditions are required.
