The purpose of this course is to develop your abilities, as writers, to manipulate a variety of writing modes and styles. We will focus on the significance of audience and voice and on the difference between “subjective” and “objective” forms of writing. Students will learn how audience, purpose and context shape expectations in writing. Some attention will be paid to developing research and documentation skills. Revision will be emphasized, and writing groups will be formed to aid in this process and to enhance analytical skills.
