Mark Morris Dance Group Intensive

The West Coast Intensive is presented in collaboration with the Seattle Theatre Group and the Cornish College of the Arts. Daily classes include Modern Dance, Ballet, Pilates and MMDG Repertory. Additional activities may include dancer panel discussions, injury prevention seminars, and music workshops. Each session concludes in an informal repertory performance. Dancers must be 16 years of age or older and should be at a pre-professional level in both Modern Dance and Ballet.

Auditions

Dancers will be asked to submit a video excerpt as part of the application. There are three ways to submit your audition:

1. Attend an audition in Seattle, Urbana or San Diego.
2. Submit a video excerpt (5 minutes or less) by:
   • mailing a video excerpt to:
     Summer Intensive, Mark Morris Dance Group, 3 Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217
   • emailing an online video link to Sarah Marcus. When sending a video via YouTube, please mark the video as public to ensure viewing access.

   Videos/DVD submissions should include two centre work combinations, one in modern dance and on in ballet. Performance videos are accepted as long as the dancer is clearly identifiable.

3. Attend Cornish's audition ballet class at Kerry Hall on March 4, 2012, 2 – 4 pm; $15.

Housing

The housing deadline has been extended to June 1, 2012.

Housing is available, but is not included as a part of tuition. Dancers should indicate interest in housing information on the application and will be contacted with more details if accepted into the program. Housing is based on a minimum of five students requesting housing. If you request housing for this intensive, housing arrangements will be made via Summer at Cornish Housing.
