This course is a project-oriented introduction to the print workshop, its tools and materials.

Students will make paper, explore the use of hand-cut stencils, and build a working relationship with relief and intaglio printmaking techniques.

Students will develop innovative methods for creating works on paper using both Western and Eastern printing techniques.

Dawn Cerny is a Seattle based artist. Cerny is an alumni of Cornish College of the Arts and a member of the Cornish Art department faculty. She received her MFA from Bard College Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. Her drawings, print installations and sculptures have been shown at numerous venues including Henry Art Gallery, Seattle, Washington; Western Bridge, Seattle, Washington; Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma, Washington; Or Gallery, Vancouver, Canada; and Night Gallery, Los Angeles, California. Cerny’s solo shows have been written about in Art Week, Art On Paper, Art Ltd, The Stranger, Seattle Weekly, The P.I., and the Seattle Times.
