An introductory course in the use of makeup, wigs, and facial hair for the stage.
Actors, dancers, singers, costume designers, directors and fine artists need an understanding of makeup and this course fulfills that need.
Students who participate in this course will have a working knowledge of makeup materials and application. They will also begin to formulate how to research and design makeup/hair for any given role or production. Open to all levels.

Karen Armand is currently an adjunct faculty member of Cornish College of the Arts and has been since 1995. Ms. Armand is also the supervisor and head makeup artist/designer at Pacific Northwest Ballet where she heads up the specialty (theatrical) makeup department. Karen has been working professionally in theater arts as a makeup artist, wigmaker, and hair stylist since 1980. Her work experience covers the fields of ballet, opera, TV, print, theater, as well as individuals for both professional and personal needs. She has worked all over the world.
Shelby Adele Rogers
Shelby Adele Rogers has been working as a theatrical hair and makeup artist for 12 years. She is the Lead Principal Makeup Artist at Seattle Opera and regularly works for Pacific Northwest Ballet. Rogers has also worked at the 5th Ave Theatre, Paramount, and Children’s Theatre in Seattle, WA. Shelby works extensively styling and maintaining wigs for operas and plays. She received her BA in Interdisciplinary Art from University of Washington and her background is in painting.
