Course Description
Songwriting and the Recording Experience is a two-week workshop that allows for an in-depth examination of the many aspects of songwriting, including but not limited to: lyrics, chord families and keys, common chord progressions, rhyme schemes, modulation, blues form, 32-bar song form, arranging, accompaniment styles, rhythms, microphone technique, performing, recording tips, and more. The weekend break will allow information learned during the first week to be absorbed and applied to the weekend assignment. In week two, each student will have the opportunity to work in the Cornish recording studio along with studio musicians to record, edit, and mix one of their songs. The workshop culminates on the final day with a concert featuring performances by participants for supportive family and friends
