“I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best.” - Frida Kahlo.
In this course, students learn the basic anatomy and proportion of the face. Personal writing and descriptions involving mood and memory will be utilized to help inspire students to design a personalized self-portrait.
Students start with drawing, then move on to incorporating other mediums, and finally to finished portraits.

Jazz-Minh Moore
Instructor
Jazz-minh Moore is a New York based artist. She holds a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts and a MFA from California State University, Long Beach.
Her interest lies in the complicated dialectic between ‘nature’ and ‘culture’ within contemporary society. Moore has had solo shows in New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Paris, and been featured in various publications, including Interview Magazine, Whitehot Magazine, Zingmagazine, American Art Collector and Dazed Digital. Moore is represented by Lyons Wier Gallery NYC.
