Learn the fun process and skills needed to energize and make the surfaces of your art complex, dynamic, nuanced and rich with meaning. Through the process of mixed media, found object and collage, we will explore various back-ground layering techniques.
The student will learn to integrate dissonant materials in a composition to create a successful finished work of art. The student will be taken through the steps of preparing various surfaces in order to apply collage and mixed media materials.
The student will learn to apply acrylic tints, varnishes and pigments over the surface of the art work and finally add personal and unique imagery in oils for a finished contemporary work of art.

LoCicero is a Seattle based professional artist with national gallery representation. He is represented locally by The Linda Hodges Gallery and The Seattle Art Museum Sales Gallery. His work is in numerous private and public collections internationally including; The Dayton Art Museum, The San Francisco Legion of Honor, Swedish Medical Center, Virginia Mason, Trinity University, Oregon Health Sciences University, The San Francisco International Airport, The California LEF Foundation, Croner International, Paris France and The University of Washington Medical Center. His work has been reviewed in The San Francisco Chronicle, The Seattle Times, The Washington Post, Art News, Nashville Arts Magazine and Arts LTD. He was awarded a Maryland State Arts Award and a San Francisco Artist Relocation grant. He received his BFA from The Ohio State University and his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. He is currently adjunct faculty at Cornish College of the Arts. LoCicero’s work makes references to the idea of traveling and the act of moving from one place to another and from one time period to another. He is intrigued with the past and the associations that can be made with aged surfaces and vintage ephemera. His paintings refer to the idea of traveling as a metaphor for multiple kinds of passages; literally, symbolically and culturally.
