Learning the fundamentals of drawing from the live model. 

Basic construction of the figure/body. Specific instruction in the use and history of figurative proportion systems, including those for head and face. 

Students explore various black and white media, develop visual awareness, and enrich their capacity for observation and self-expression.

Tory Franklin

Tory Franklin’s narrative work incorporates a diverse amount of media unified with her use of line, pattern, print and scale. Currently, she is focusing on public installations inspired by fairy-tales for Storefronts Seattle, SoundTransit, The VERA Project and Spaceworks Tacoma. She is the recipient of a 2012 Artist Trust GAP grant, and is in the planning stage for several public works for 2013-2014. 

Tory received her BFA in 2000 from Cornish and a MFA in 2007 from Rutgers. She has strengthened her printing skills by working in several print shops between 2002 and 2007, including assisting Ghada Amer at Singapore Tyler Print Institute and Trenton Doyle Hancock at Philadelphia’s Fabric Workshop and Museum. She is the Drawing Studio Supervisor at Cornish and volunteers for The VERA Project and Short Run Seattle.
