This one-week intensive will be a rigorous exploration of practice-based color theory using oil paints. Students will gain proficiency in palette mixing while developing an understanding of color in terms of value, temperature, and intensity.
Each session will include a lecture and demo on color, as well as a group exploration of the use of color in selected historical and contemporary paintings. Students will apply these new concepts to painted studies from observation, working from colored paper still-life constructions.
