Student Spotlight

Inspiration
I entertain. It's like what I've been programmed to do. I've found that I turn just about everything into a performance.

Only, recently I've realized that entertaining isn't the only aspect to performing. A well done performance has the power to initiate or transform thought. It has the ability to convey a message, an emotion, a philosophy.

I think the art that I create, or at least want to create from here on out, is experience. Giving people experiences they other wise wouldn't have- through singing, acting, movement... blah blah blah

Influence
I've been singing since before I could talk. If given the chance to sing, I will. Ask any one who's been around me for at least an hour...

I started acting in kindergarten and continued to find ways to act throughout my whole life. Stepping into a character- transforming- embodying something or some one- It's what I love to do.

I diverted form from theatre in high school, I went through a severe punk stage of my life... Bathing once every two weeks and all that... But I soon dove back into the thespian world, and now I smell like a lovely blend of herbal essences and frankincense. :]

Current Projects
Well, currently I am focusing on everything a sophomore must focus on within the first semester.
I am excited to be playing "Beline" in Moliere's "Imaginary Invalid" for my acting class.

Outside of that, I love performing as my alternate persona "Jinkx M. Dubois" at various cabarets and night clubs. It's my sub passion.

Hometown
I'm from Portland Oregon. God I love it there.

People say that Portland is like a diet Seattle, but I say that Seattle is like an overcompensating Portland.

Imagine the most eccentric little Bohemian mecca with the essence of a port-town, and that's Portland.

Why Cornish?
I chose to come to Cornish because Seattle is a great location to be studying theatre.
This school is so unique and wonderful, but we all already have heard THAT shpeal spiel…

I chose Cornish, because after visiting, there was no other choice for me.

Experience
My teachers are brilliant. My peers amaze me. My insight is expanding. And my passion is intensifying.

Hobbies
I'm a drag queen... a guiness Guinness Book world-record-breaking drag queen... listen, as far as drag queens under the age of 21 in Portland Oregon go, I'm tops.

I also wrote a rap.

In 5 Years
Working as an actor/cabaret star. Maybe have a talk show- just like Tyra Banks.
