Inspiration
My inspirations come from everywhere. Today I was inspired by a homeless lady who was counting her steps, and just now... the light breaking the clouds and shining through the window showing every fingerprint on the glass is really inspiring. I arrange and rearrange movement...
Influence
I was 20 years old, and angry. Angry that I couldn't figure out what it was that was missing from me... or that I had not found yet. My mother (who danced when she was young) suggested that I take a modern dance class. She signed me up at the local community college and I went. That was the beginning for me... In that little room I found myself. I found everything I would ever need to help me present my message to the world. I found movement.
Current Projects
Just finished dancing for Brandi Minter's BFA piece! She was amazing to work with! I'm now working on finding out more about my artistic identity... And doing some work for Terpsichore's Landing.
Hometown
I'm from Los Angeles... And that is self explanatory. It's just different... Oh so different.
Why Cornish?
It was the door that opened for me... And I wasn't sure how many more doors there would be.
Experience
I'm finding who I am. Cornish suggests a lot of things, you have to be really proactive in your learning here. Nothing is really given to you on a silver platter... You have to earn your keep.
Hobbies
I love people watching... I just observe behaviors.
In 5 Years
Hopefully dancing professionally for a well established modern company... who knows though right? I could be dancing for Britney's comeback tour.
Advice
Look at all of your options and really think about everything that goes along with Cornish. Investigate and make sure that it's going to facilitate your creative process, that is the most important thing!
