Jasmine Woo

jasmine.jpg I was born with a sketchbook and a pencil. I heard it was one hell of a delivery.

What kind of art do you make? What inspires you?

I like making this as simplistic as possible while retaining functionality. I'm in a Swiss phase right now... with a little bit of illustration on the side.

When in your life did you first become involved in your artistic discipline? What influenced you to become involved in the arts?

I was born with a sketchbook and a pencil. I heard it was one hell of a delivery.

What are your current projects?

Mainly class projects -- and a web design for the Seattle Animal Shelter.

Where are you from? How is Seattle different?

I'm a local hailing from Kent (about a 30 min. drive south of Seattle). Seattle's.... Bigger, yah?

Why did you choose to come to Cornish?

Cornish is small, like me. Ha.

I appreciated the small class sizes and the overall attitude and approach of the Design department.

What has been your experience here?

funfrustrationstresscrazinessgoodtimesmorestress.

What quirky hobbies do you have?

I save the labels off of the CD/DVDs that I buy, and stick them on a piece of cardboard that sits next to my bed. Perfectly normal, perfectly healthy...

What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?

Enjoying whatever I'm doing.

What would you tell a prospective student about Cornish?

Be open to new ideas and criticism, you will enjoy your experience and learn more. Don't take the craft of your work lightly.

What is your creative process?

It consists of, but is not limited to:
Massive amounts of doodling + being stuck with moments of brilliance + a series of failures + collaborations + cutting up images + word webs + lots and lots and lots of coffee.
