Erin Mae Beil
Mom always told me I was acting since I could walk. I was born a drama queen.
What kind of art do you make? What inspires you?
I was inspired to act at a young age. I always loved getting together with a group and having our imaginations take life. I love acting because I get to touch people and connect with them through human experiences we all share.
When in your life did you first become involved in your artistic discipline? What influenced you to become involved in the arts?
When I was in the second grade, my music teacher asked me if I wanted to play a little bird in the High School's production of Into The Woods. But my mother always told me I was acting ever since I could walk. She said I was born a drama queen.
What are your current projects?
I'm currently in rehearsals for the sophomore ensemble play, Waiting for Lefty.
Where are you from? How is Seattle different?
I was born in Belvidere, New Jersey and then moved to Fort Shaw, Montana when I was fourteen. Since where I lived in Montana was out in the middle of no where, I needed to get back to a city and civilization so I moved here to Seattle.
Why did you choose to come to Cornish?
I always wanted to go to a school where I could focus on my acting and not have to worry about taking classes that I had no interest in. Cornish's program fit that for me.
What has been your experience here?
The faculty are amazing. Since most of them are working professionals outside of Cornish, they really know what they are talking about and they can really inform you on the goings on beyond the walls of Cornish.
What quirky hobbies do you have?
Hmmm… taking pictures of people and then trying to imitate their expressions in the mirror afterwards.
What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?
I'll be realistic, either acting in a big production of some kind or working my many part time jobs so I can pay the bills while going to auditions.
What would you tell a prospective student about Cornish?
Come for a preview day! That way, you can pretty much see what you need to be here and what the school has to offer.
What is your creative process?
That's a secret!
