Voter Information
To register to vote in the state of Washington, you must be:
- A citizen of the United States
- A legal resident of Washington state
- At least 18 years old by election day
In the state of Washington, you do not have to register by political party or declare political party membership to vote in the state's regular primaries or general elections. You may register to vote at many government offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles, or by using the registration form provided in the Washington Secretary of State's Voter Guide.
Voter information for all states can be found at the Federal Election Commission.
Other organizations that provide voter information:
- Project Vote Smart - This nonpartisan organization maintains a database on all presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and state legislative candidates that includes their responses to questionnaires, and the incumbents' voting records. The Project Vote Smart database also includes information on how to register to vote in each state, and the addresses of the county or city election offices.
- The League of Women Voters - The League of Women Voters encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
