The Hanoi-based Tri Minh Quartet mixes traditional Vietnamese music with a contemporary experimental aesthetic.
A masterful mentor to a new musical scene, this pianist excelled in composition at Hanoi Conservatory and has created revolutionary Vietnamese jazz and electronica. His quartet for piano, zither, and traditional and contemporary instruments is rivetingly fresh. (This Center Stage residency is an initiative of the U.S. Dept. of State, produced by the New England Foundation for the Arts and regional arts organizations, with support from the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation, the Asian Cultural Council, and Lisa Booth Management.)
