Brenna Monroe-Cook

Brenna Monroe-Cook is originally from Oak Park, Illinois.  She began her dance training at the Academy of Movement and Music under the direction of Stephanie Clemens and performed extensively with the affiliated Momenta Performing Arts Company dancing in reconstructions of works by Isadora Duncan, Doris Humphrey and Ruth St. Denis.  She went on to receive her BFA from The Juilliard School under the direction of Benjamin Harkarvy. Ms. Monroe-Cook then joined the Limón Dance Company and toured internationally for several years performing and teaching the work of José Limón and Doris Humphrey along with works by Jirí Kylián, Susanne Linke, Lar Lubovitch and Donald McKayle.  She continues to teach Limón technique and stage Limón repertoire for companies and schools nationwide including North Carolina School of the Arts, University of Florida, University of North Texas and locally at Cornish, Dance Fremont and the University of Washington.  She also teaches ballet and is a certified Pilates instructor through the Kane School of Core Integration.  Ms. Monroe-Cook is currently pursuing her MFA at the University of Washington.
