In the Spring of 2009 Professor Roberta Russell was asked by the Art Department to design the lighting for part of the annual Senior BFA show in the black box studio space at MC6. Jeremiah Givers (Performance Production Sophomore) worked as master electrician.

Art department Seniors in this space included Morgan Bell, Emily Bryan, Aleah Chapman, Kelsey Offield, John Ruszel and Brian Seldt. Using theatrical lighting instruments, rather than traditional art gallery lighting, this group of artists’ works were displayed in a very unique fashion.

If you notice Professor Roberta Russell grinning more than usual, it could be because yesterday (Thursday, Oct 1) she placed our order for a brand new lighting console for Raisbeck Performance Hall!
So, lighting designer Josh Tillman, and Master Electrician Coby Chasman-Beck get to break in our brand new ETC Ion console when they go into tech for The Philadelphia Story.

We loved our old Obsession 600, but sometimes, even an obsession needs to come to an end (regardless of what Calvin Klein might try to tell you).

For those who are impatient, details about the board, including a downloadable manual and tutorials, can be found on the ETC site here

The Basic Precautions

1. Avoid close contact.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.

2. Stay home when you are sick.

If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness.

3. Cover your mouth and nose.

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.

4. Clean your hands.

Washing your hands often (Especially after a cough or sneeze) will help protect you from germs. You can use alcohol type hand sanitizers (available in classrooms) if you can’t get to a sink.

5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.

6. Practice other good health habits.

Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
