Freilah Allen-Sonn (‘88) is still designing wearable art . Freilah is part owner in a store, The Enchanted Closet, located at 119 State Ave. N., Kent, WA, 98030; phone 253.850.4968. The Enchanted Closet is an artist’s gallery, featuring all kinds of art from local artists, including Fashions By Freilah. They are always looking for new artists, so please contact them if you have art of any kind to sell; or just come on in just to look around & say hi! They are open Tuesday thru Friday, or by appointment. They will have a booth at the Pagan Pride Festival in Federal Way in September. Freilah has revamped her web site, and you can check it out at: http://home.earthlink.net/~freilahfash/

On a personal note, Freilah put in a flag stone patio this summer, and she is enjoying growing her very first vegetable garden, with 15 different fruits & vegetables (the debate goes on—tomato, fruit or vegetable?) And the grand children are growing like weeds!

Also, she is still trying to return John Newstrom’s hat to him; if anyone can help, that would be great!

Shaun “Pinky” Estell (‘07) is the Technical Director for the 2nd stage/ Conservatory at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco for one more season, at the end of which, he plans to go to grad school and get his M.F.A. in Stage Automation, hopefully at North Carolina School of the Arts to which he will be applying this Fall. And other than enjoying life and doing a bit of traveling he continues to work for event services companies setting up lights, sound, and sets for big parties, concerts, and such.

Andrea Gibson (‘92) is up to much the same as she has been, but more so. She’s been doing some artwork; including making jewelry, cards and origami boxes. She’s been experimenting with combining different materials such as paper, metal, wire, beads and fabric for different effects. Andrea has sold some of her artwork, but mostly she has been working for her own enjoyment.

Other than that she has been doing a little travelling, a little gardening and more socializing than in quite a while - mostly with fellow PP grads.

Luke Kehrwald (‘07) is still working on growing his business, Performance Sound. Luke has recently moved away from doing much theater work and is primarily focusing on small scale concerts and other one-off events. As the business grows Luke continues freelancing as a sound engineer around the Seattle/Puget Sound area. http://performancesound.net/

Andy Rampulla-Greenlee (’06) is currently a Graduate Student of Art Education. She is also employed by her department of study as a Graduate Assistant. She and her husband will be celebrating a renewal of their vows this summer in Pennsylvania, and her son is now almost 7 months old. She is not active in the theatre community at the moment, but instead is beginning to work on illustrating a children’s book.

Roberta Christensen (‘95) has been a freelance television producer and theatre artist since graduating from Cornish in 1995. Many of Roberta’s theatre pieces have run along Hollywood’s Theatre Row, in the NoHo Arts District and in The Geffen Playhouse. Four T.V. projects have been Emmy Nominated and seen by millions on NBC, ABC, FOX, BRAVO, HBO, TLC and soon TNT. When not working on set or in an edit bay, Roberta paints and sculpts. She will be launching RED Couch Gallery in the summer of 2009 with fellow Cornish Grad and Award Winning Radio Producer - Shelli Gonshorowski! Stay tuned!

Shannon Reagan-Dunham (‘98) will be a vendor at FaerieWorlds in Eugene, OR this summer. She will be starting a puppet troupe in the fall. Shannon has started writing plays again. http://wyndwolfpuppets.homestead.com/

Rough Costume and Scenic Designs Explored

Thursday, August 13, 2009
Costume and Scenic designs for Unity 1918 are well underway. This morning the designers met with director Marya Sea Kaminski to look at how the show is shaping up. The photos below show part of that discussion underway, and also a sneak peek at the rough designs for the set. Please note that we are still early in the process, so these are by no means final designs, but they give a good idea how the process works.

Costume Designer Stephanie Fulsom (Performance Production Junior) and Director Marya Sea Kaminski (Theater Faculty) talk about costumes.

Professor Karen Gjelsteen, Scenic Designer unveils the rough model for Unity 1918 during the meeting.

Professor Gjelsteen discusses the design with the director and TD (out of the image) while Props Coordinator Heidi Hunt (Performance Production Junior) and Costume Shop Supervisor Carl Bronsdon (PP Faculty and Alum)
As you can see, coffee is an important part of the design process!

Rough design model for Unity 1918 - this is an initial model built for studying the way the design works and discussing it with the director and other designers, it is not a finished scenic model.

Ground Plan for Rough Design - note that as with the model, this is a snapshot of the design process to date.
Stay tuned for more to come!
