Scene Painting
Jennifer Lupton, has had a varied and rewarding year artistically. She was focused on developing two new pieces at Seattle Children’s Theatre with Artistic Director Linda Hartzell, culminating in designing the scenery for both. The first project was the adventure of creating a new musical based on the first three books from the Lyle the Crocodile series; the other project was a play developed for The Chicago Children’s Theatre called Dot and Ziggy. Currently she is designing the set for the upcoming production of Robin Hood , at S.C.T. Jennifer has designed for many Northwest theaters including ACT, Intiman, Empty Space, Seattle Shakespeare Co., The Group, Perseverance Theatre Co., Tacoma Actors Guild and Seattle Children’s Theatre where she spends much of her time. Her designs include Getting Near to Baby, Pharaoh Serket and the Lost Stone of Fire, Goodnight Moon, Busytown, Peter and the Wolf, Red Badge of Courage, Bunnicula, The Magic Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, Afternoon of the Elves, and The Tempest. She holds her BFA from The University of New Mexico and her MFA in Lighting and Set Design from the University of Washington. “I love teaching the scenic art class at Cornish; it keeps me grounded and connected my craft with paint under my nails.” Jennifer has a wonderfully supportive husband Denis and son Zach.
