Multiple Events On Valentine’s Day Weekend: Theater, Dance, Drag, and Music

Cornish College events offer something for every taste – and all under $10

Seattle WA – Looking for a great date night for under $10? The Cornish events on Valentine Day’s weekend, Feb. 13 to 15, run from free to a maximum price of $10. And if your date wonders why a college show, tell him or her that you’re looking for the next Jinxx Monsoon, Mary Lambert, or Amy O’Neal, all Cornish graduates who were recently featured in much pricier shows at Seattle Rep, the Moore, and On The Boards, as well as being hot tickets across the country.

The action ranges from the college’s 2015 BFA Dance Concert Series at the Broadway Performance Hall (free, but reservations recommended) to a packed weekend at the Cornish Playhouse at the Seattle Center that includes the ever popular Cornish Drag Show put on by the student council and new concert event featuring a combination of vocal arts and musical theater students. There’s even a Winter New Works festival at the cozy Cornish Playhouse Studio at the Seattle Center if you’re feeling literary.

Winter New Works Festival
Feb. 13 and 14, 8:00 p.m.
Cornish Playhouse Studio at Seattle Center, 201 Mercer St

Directed by Kathleen Collins, this is one of three new works written by a Cornish seniors and given a staged reading in the Winter New Works Festival. Additional plays on Feb. 20 and 21.   Admission is free.

2015 BFA Dance Concert Series
Feb. 14, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Broadway Performance Hall, 1625 Broadway

Showcasing the choreography and performances of Cornish Dance Department's class of 2015. This series repeats February 21 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Admission is free but reservations are encouraged as the seats tend to fill up quickly. Cornish Drag Show
Feb. 14, 8 p.m. with pre-show resource fair at 7 p.m.
Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center

The Cornish Student Leadership Council is hosting their 11th drag show! Come early to visit with performers at the resource fair. Tickets are $5 for the general public or free for students with valid ID.  Tickets are available online and by phone at Brown Paper Tickets, 1.800.838.3006.

Feb. 15, 7 p.m.
Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center

Fifteen student and two faculty singers perform an evening of Broadway, jazz, opera, and original music at the Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center, 201 Mercer St, Seattle.  Songs will include “If Only,” “Quiet,” “Ombra mai
fu,” “'Round Midnight,” “Ain't It a Pretty Night,” and more.  The evening features members of the Seattle Philharmonic under the direction of Adam Stern. Tickets for this event are $10 general admission, $5 students and alumni (with ID), and free for Cornish students.
