Cornish Preparatory Dance’s Nutcracker Returns To Cornish Playhouse

The Cornish Preparatory Dance Company presents four performances of the Nutcracker December. With choreography by Steve Casteel, Leigh-Ann Cohen-Hafford, Christine Juarez, Dañela Lewis and Paula J. Peters, this version features Preparatory Dance students who have enrolled in ballet (the primary level and above). To perform in the Nutcracker, these students have maintained excellent attendance for both classes and rehearsals. Parents of performers support the rehearsal schedule and performances through their volunteer activities.

Performances are held at the Cornish Playhouse, 201 Mercer Street. Operated by Cornish College of the Arts as its most high-profile venue, the Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center hosts a full range of professional and student performing arts productions in its 470-seat main auditorium, its black-box Studio, and the forecourt and lobby.

Cornish Preparatory Dance

The aim of the Cornish Preparatory Dance Program (CPDP) is to ensure that all students experience the joy of movement, develop a lifelong appreciation for the art of dance, and are prepared for their next step in dance. Classroom work and performance opportunities instill in each student focus, discipline, accountability, efficacy, and satisfaction through achievement. Classes take place on the campus of Cornish College of the Arts.

Students are accepted into the Cornish Preparatory Dance Program for a 36 week school year. Spring 2015 semester begins January 26, 2015.
