New Trustees

Cornish College of the Arts recently welcomed John Dimitriou and Roger Bass to the Board of Trustees.

John Dimitriou

John Dimitriou is the founder and owner of Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley in Seattle. Since the club opened its doors in 1979, Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley has become a cornerstone of jazz in Seattle, influencing a whole new generation of local musicians who are creating an extremely vibrant local music scene. He also developed Pacific Jazz Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to making jazz accessible to primarily at-risk youth through educational programs and live performances. Dimitriou is married to Cornish alumna, Carla Dimitriou (AR ‘95).

Roger Bass

Roger Bass is a consultant focusing on non-profit governance and strategic planning. He founded University Prep in Seattle and served as Head of School for 25 years and Department Head in the English Department. Bass also taught English at Roosevelt High School for 9 years. Additionally, he has served on many Boards including the National Association of Independent Schools, Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, Superintendent’s Statewide Advisory Committee on Private Education, Washington State Advisory Committee, Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools, Seattle Arts & Lectures, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theater, Seattle Arts Commission and the Washington Commission for the Humanities just to name a few.
