New Sculpture Honors Merce Cunningham

New Sculpture Honors Merce Cunningham

Cornish College of the Arts is thrilled to welcome a new artwork to the campus, at the apex of Denny, Boren Avenue and Lenora Street, next to the Main Campus Center. A gift of the Cunningham Family, the seven-foot bronze sculpture by Steve Jensen (also a Cornish alum),  honors alum and legendary choreographer/dancer Merce Cunningham.

A formal dedication will be announced soon, to take place between October 26 and 29, coinciding with performances of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company Legacy Tour, presented by Seattle Theatre Group. Members of the Cunningham family and the Company will participate in the public dedication.

Cornish and Seattle Theatre Group are also co-hosting a free Cunningham discussion and minEvent performance at the Paramount on October 2 at 2 pm.
