Cornish College of the Arts is pleased to announce the debut of INTERFACE, an event series designed to encourage and celebrate collaborative and cross-disciplinary artistic projects and foster departmental interactions. INTERFACE will take place during the Spring 2009 semester, presenting lectures, workshops, performances and exhibits on the college campus.
The first event in the INTERFACE series will be a workshop focusing on the process and product of artistic collaboration. The performance group locust, formed by Cornish graduate Amy O’Neal (Dance ’99) and former music student Zeke Keeble, will share and discuss their cross-disciplinary productions and process of creation, followed by a workshop exploring tools for collaboration. The event will take place at MC6 on Monday January 26th, 8-10 pm.
Other spring INTERFACE events will include a February 27 noontime lecture by Microsoft Principal Experience Architect August de los Reyes on the evolution of the concept of “interface” and the importance of play and emotion in creating with technology; a Faculty Brown Bag discussion of multiple forms of disciplinary collaborations and experimentation, hosted by the Academic Affairs Committee of the Faculty; and 5 Minutes Max, an informal presentation of collaborative and cross-disciplinary student projects, on April 17.
