Every year the Stranger honors a filmmaker, a writer, a visual artist, a theater artist, and an arts organization who are making startling, original work. This year Cornish Theater Alumni Mandie O’Connell (TH ’04) and Ryan Mitchell (TH ’04) were honored with a 2008 Stranger Genius Award for their experimental theater company Implied Violence.
In recent years Stranger Genius Awards have also gone to Theater faculty member Amy Thone (2007) and Alumnus Gabriel Baron (TH ’00 awarded in 2005), as well as Strawberry Theater Workshop (2007) , which is run by Performance Production faculty member Greg Carter and has featured work by many Cornish Theater and Performance Production alumni and faculty.
