Cornish College of the Arts raised over $310,000.00 for the Cornish Scholarship Fund at its annual event, Cornish Celebrates An Evening of the Arts on Sunday, November 5, 2006. The Cornish Scholarship Fund provides much-needed financial support for emerging artists in the visual and performing arts, allowing students to pursue their education without incurring a crushing financial burden.
Guests at the event were invited to “Raise the Paddle” to provide gifts to the fund at $25,000, $10,000, $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, $500, $250 and $100 levels. Thanks to a very generous longtime trustee, all gifts of $1000 and above were matched dollar for dollar. Joseph Brotherton, also a longtime trustee of the College and a co-chair of the event, and his wife Maureen, pledged $25,000. Brotherton expressed his delight in being able to support gifted, emerging artists.
