PLEASE NOTE: This performance has been rescheduled for September 26, 2009.
On February 27, Cornish songwriting instructor Linda Waterfall will present an evening of songs selected from her thirty-year career performing and recording in Seattle, as part of the Cornish Music Series. The program will also include new songs reflecting influences that have inspired her since she joined the Cornish faculty in 2004.
Praised by the Seattle Times’ “Critic’s Choice” column as “Seattle’s Top Singer/Songwriter”, Linda Waterfall has been an active part of the Northwest music scene since 1977, when the first of her twelve recordings was released by Windham Hill Records. Her choral compositions have been performed by the Esoterics, in addition to choral groups at the University of Washington, Western Washington University, and the Evergreen State College.
Waterfall has performed in concert all over the U.S., and critics often observe that her music is impossible to categorize. Her performances combine the intimacy of a folk performance with the high energy of the rock & roll tavern scene, of which she was an active player in the early ‘80s. Since 1984, she has composed choral and vocal music for numerous grants and commissions, receiving funding from the Seattle Arts Commission, King County 4Culture, Western Washington University, the Evergreen State College, and other Northwest community institutions. Her twelfth recording is due to be released in February 2009.
