Tamara Moats, adjunct professor in art history, designed, wrote, and received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, under the auspices of the John Goodlad Institute at the University of Washington, Bothell, and in partnership with the Seattle Art Museum.  The grant funded a 2010 summer institute, entitled “Picturing America: Principled Dissent and Democratic Practice,” for middle- and high-school teachers to develop their skills in using art to teach American history.  Moats taught the institute with UWB American Studies Professor Linda Watts, and Bridget Nowlin, Cornish College Curator of Visual Resources.
