Music Faculty Member Chuck Deardorf at Jazz Port Townsend

Cornish Music faculty member Chuck Deardorf played bass in the rhythm section that accompanied the first two “Dynamic Duos” in a broadcast from Centrum’s Jazz Port Townsend on KPLU’s Jazz Northwest, Sunday, August 5. A total of three duos were selected by Artistic Director John Clayton for this unique concert: trombonists Wycliffe Gordon and Jiggs Whigham, guitarists Graham Dechter and Bruce Forman and drummers Jeff Hamilton and Matt Wilson.

Joining Deardorf in the rhythm section were Tamir Hendelman (piano) and Rodney Green (drums).
This was the first of six concert performances recorded for Jazz Northwest at the long-running Jazz Port Townsend Festival which began in 1977.
