Every Thursday, cloudy or sunny, outdoor lunch at Van Vorst Plaza means Cornish College of the Arts entertainment. Now in its fourth year, Cornish@Amazon brings students, faculty, and alumni bands to the stage.
For Cornish@Amazon, the summer music series produced by Cornish College of the Arts, summer lasts all the way through October. From Latin to contemporary jazz, pop to bluegrass, there’s something new every week.
This week (June 29), Whitney Lyman ’09 returns to the stage. This pop artist has been called “a rich, youthful blend of indie originality.” A composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist, Lyman blends influences from traditional world folk, baroque chamber music, indie rock, and dream pop. She’s also not above grabbing a ukulele and enjoying a little summer fun on Lake Union as in this video.
July performances kick off with three-time Latin Grammy nominee Jovino Santos Neto. This master pianist, Cornish faculty member, composer and arranger, is among the top Brazilian musicians working today. His Quinteto includes fellow Cornish faculty members Chuck Deardorf (bass), Mark Ivester (drums), Ben Thomas (vibraphone) and Jeff Busch (percussion).
