Cornish@Amazon Summer Concert Series 2018

From May 31 to October 11, catch Cornish students, alumni, faculty, and friends at the Van Vorst Plaza in South Lake Union. This free summer music series happens at noon on Thursdays.

​This year’s Cornish @ Amazon kicks off May 31 with the Dylan Hayes Electric Band featuring Xavier Lecouturier ’18, drums; Martin Budde ’19, guitar; Luke Hagerman, bass; and Dylan Hayes ’18, keys.

June’s concerts include En Canto (June 7) with Meese Tonkin, flute, Mike Withey, keys, Jamie Maschler ‘11, accordion, Martin Strand ‘11, bass, and Adam Kozie ‘07; drums, the Lucas Winter Trio (June 14) featuring Lucas Winter ‘16, Ben Feldman, and Xavier Lecouturier ‘19; Jimmie Herrod ‘13 (June 21); and the Tim Carey Band (June 28) with Tim Carey ‘06, Jacob Neenan ’18, Xavier Lecouturier ‘18, and Max Walker ‘16.

To kick off July’s concerts, Yeom-ra plays July 5 with Jacob Neenan ’18, saxophone, Joe Oakes ’19, guitar; Trevor O’Loughlin ‘19, bass; and Ruby Dunphy ‘18, drums. The month continues with the jazz trio Honeysuckle Rye (July 12) comprised of Cameron Armstrong ‘13 (guitar), Ben Hunter (violin), and Forrest Marowitz (double bass); Seattle newgrass-ers Bootleg Sunshine (July 19) with Amanda Rae Fitch, fiddle & vox Harold Belskus ‘12, guitar & vox , Joe Eck ‘12, drums, and Martin Strand ‘11, bass; and Scorpio and the Hunter (July 26) with Anthony Canape ‘15, Yzech Tahar ‘17, Moe Weisner ‘17, and Max Walker ‘16.

Jazz vocalist and Cornish faculty member Johnaye Kendrick performs her own original compositions as well as fresh interpretations of beloved jazz and blues compositions on August 2 as the Johnaye Kendrick Quartet with Kendrick, voice, harmonium; Bill Anschell, piano; Chris Symer, bass; and D’Vonne Lewis, drums.

August alumni performances include SassyBlack ‘08 (August 9), Tai Shan Band (August 16) featuring Tai Shan ‘09, the Joel Bean Trio (August 23) with Joel Bean ‘19, piano, Paul Gabrielson, bass, and Will Lone ‘18, drums, and Whitney Lyman ‘09 (August 30),

September brings Goodsteph (September 6), jazz duo Martin and Linzy (September 13) with Cornish students Linzy Collison-Ris ‘21 and Martin Budde ‘19, and Katrina Kope ‘07 (September 20).

Look for more faculty performances on September 27 with the Jovino Santos Neto Quarteto featuring Jovino Santos Neto, piano, flute and melodica, Chuck Deardorf, bass, Mark Ivester, drums, and Jeff Busch, percussion.

Cornish@Amazon 2018 concludes with Matt Sircely (mandolin) and Forrest Marowitz (double bass) on October 4 and Creosote featuring Jamie Maschler ‘11, accordion, on October 11.
